Check out the Virtual Fabric momentum for IBM BladeCenter and System x!

North Carolina may have be coming to the end of its hurricane season, but the IBM BladeCenter and System x teams, based out of storm-ravaged Raleigh, are enjoying their own tropical storm swirling around the Emulex 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) Virtual Fabric Adapter (VFA) II for IBM BladeCenter that was announced in July. Our own Emulex team that supports the IBM field can attest to the VFA II hurricane – we’ve all been travelling worldwide the last few months to IBM technical universities, business partner meetings, educational summits, and onsite customer data centers … all caught up in the fury to enable the next-gen virtualized environment.

Because I’m smack in the middle of the Virtual Fabric storm, I like to use this blog to help all of us wade our way through the onslaught of information. So, once again, here are three new tools I think you should review. You can put them in your back pocket while you’re out there hitting the pavement, enjoying the crazy winds generated by the heat of the VFA II:

  1. Download this new ESG Product Brief on Emulex Virtual Fabric Adapters:“Emulex Virtual Fabric Adapter II Technology: How IBM Enables Virtual Networking Environments”
ESG Abstract: Virtualized servers are becoming ubiquitous as they continue to expand into production environments. As organizations push for higher VM densities and mixed workloads, it will be imperative to ensure their underlying infrastructure is capable of supporting future requirements. In order to fulfill this need, IBM worked with Emulex to create the only virtual networking solution for IBM BladeCenter and System x servers that provides true QoS for IP, ISCSI, and FCoE on one wire.
  2. Watch this new video on Virtual Fabric for IBM BladeCenter and System x servers

Share this 3-minute video with your customers to succinctly explain how to break the I/O bottleneck with IBM Virtual Fabric.
  3. Download the new Emulex deployment guide with steps to configure the Emulex VFA for ESXi on IBM BladeCenter.

Deployment Guide: Deploying Virtual Fabric and 8Gb/s Fibre Channel with IBM BladeCenter and VMware.
This new technical white paper on deploying IBM BladeCenter with VMware ESXi includes a network section covering the VFA configuration process for ESXi 4.1. It’s a great tool for the technical sales engineer or end user.

In closing, I welcome you to stay connected with us through this blog, our IBM LinkedIn group, and our Emulex-IBM partner site! We are constantly updating these sites to ensure there are resources to help you as you create next-gen virtualized data centers.
